My Story

HMA has been stem4's design and tech partner for nearly three years and in that time, we have witnessed first-hand the incredible work that this teenage mental health charity delivers.  Based in Wimbledon, the charity was formed by consultant clinical psychologist Dr Nihara Krause who is just one of the most phenomenal women we have ever met.  Along with her stem4 team, Dr Krause promotes positive mental health in teenagers and those who support them including their families and carers, education professionals, as well as school nurses and GPs through the provision of mental health education, resilience strategies and early intervention.

The digital portfolio that HMA has helped stem4 create has a combined reach of over 1.1million people worldwide and includes:

  • Calm Harm - a free app to help teenagers resist or manage the urge to self-harm
  • Clear Fear - a free app to help children and young people manage the symptoms of anxiety
  • Combined Minds - a free app that provides practical strategies for families and friends on supporting teenage mental health

And in 2020, we will be launching Move Mood - a free app using an evidence-based behavioural activation approach to help teenagers manage symptoms of depression.

To raise awareness of this fabulous charity and raise much needed funds for its work, the HMA team has signed up to take part in the GiG Half Marathon on the beautiful island of Malta on the 1st March 2020. Our team includes fitness enthusiasts to those that have never run a race in their life but each one of us knows how much this means to stem4 so training has begun and we can't wait to get out there (even if it is with trepidation!!!).

We hope that you'll be able to support us to reach our £4500 target - everyone is putting so much effort into training for this and every penny raised will only spur us on more! Whether it's £1 or £100, every donation counts and all goes directly to good work (the cost of the flight and hotel etc. will not be paid for out of fundraising).

Thank you so much!!!
